How to Choose a Stretch Ceiling Profile: Selection Guide
Profile selection guide for stretch ceilings: decision criteria (mounting method, room height, membrane
06.04.2026 | Profiles for Stretch Ceilings
Aluminium profiles form the skeleton of every stretch ceiling. They support the membrane, determine the durability, geometry and installation options of the entire construction. In this guide we present a complete overview of profile types available from 2K-Trade: from basic wall profiles, through ceiling-mount SU variants, to specialist LED profiles and two-level solutions.
Stretch ceiling profiles are classified by several criteria: mounting method (wall, ceiling, adhesive), membrane fixing system (harpoon, clip), purpose (basic, LED, two-level, curtain rail) and manufacturer series. Below we discuss each category in detail.

The CLASSIC series is a wall-mounted profile designed for standard stretch ceiling installation with PVC membrane in the harpoon system. Mounting is done by screwing the profile to the wall with wafer head screws.
| Model | Weight (g/lm) | Mounting | Application |
| CLASSIC 125 | ~125 | Wall | Slim profile for small rooms, floating ceiling effect |
| CLASSIC 170 | ~170 | Wall | Standard profile with greater rigidity |
| CLASSIC 200 | ~200 | Wall | Wider variant for large surfaces |
| CLASSIC HARD | ~170 | Wall | Reinforced profile with thicker walls |
CLASSIC profiles are available in three colour variants: raw aluminium, white RAL 9016 and black RAL 9005. Standard length is 2.5 m. The gap between the profile and the wall is concealed with a decorative trim insert.

The COMFORT series is a lighter alternative to CLASSIC, designed for rooms where minimal profile weight and mounting flexibility matter. COMFORT profiles have a smaller cross-section and require a PVC gasket in some variants.
| Model | Weight (g/lm) | Mounting | Application |
| COMFORT 100 | ~100 | Wall | Lightest profile, for small rooms (discontinued) |
| COMFORT 130 | ~130 | Wall | Lightweight profile for standard rooms |
| COMFORT 190 | ~190 | Wall | Standard profile with good rigidity |
| COMFORT 200 | ~200 | Wall | Wider wall variant, stable |
| COMFORT HARD | ~130 | Wall | Reinforced profile for large surfaces |
SU (ceiling-mount) variants are fixed directly to the structural ceiling rather than the wall. They are essential where walls cannot bear mounting loads: plasterboard partitions, glazed walls, heritage interiors. SU profiles minimise height loss to just 2-3 cm.
| Model | Weight (g/lm) | Series | Application |
| CLASSIC-SU 125 | ~125 | CLASSIC | Ceiling mount in low rooms |
| CLASSIC-SU 155 | ~155 | CLASSIC | Taller variant with greater rigidity |
| CLASSIC-SU HARD | ~155 | CLASSIC | Reinforced, thick walls, no screw holes |
| COMFORT-SU 130 | ~130 | COMFORT | Light ceiling profile for low rooms |
| COMFORT-SU 185 | ~185 | COMFORT | Taller COMFORT variant, ceiling mount |
| COMFORT-SU HARD | ~185 | COMFORT | Reinforced ceiling profile, 20 mm height |
The DELTA series creates a wide gap (shadow gap) between the membrane and the wall or between two membranes. Visual effect: the ceiling appears to float in mid-air. DELTA profiles are especially popular in modern minimalist interiors.
| Model | Weight (g/lm) | Mounting | Feature |
| DELTA | — | Wall | Wide decorative shadow gap |
| DELTA BOX | — | Adhesive/brackets | No-drill mount — tiles, glass, stone |
| DELTA-SU | — | Ceiling | Ceiling-mount DELTA variant |
| DOUBLE-BOX | ~350 | Wall/ceiling | Double-sided BOX profile without screw holes |
The COMFORT BOX is a multi-function solution combining the role of mounting profile and decorative housing. No-drill installation (adhesive or special brackets) allows fitting to surfaces that cannot tolerate mechanical interference: ceramic tiles, glass, natural stone.
LED profiles combine membrane mounting with integrated lighting. The LED strip is installed in a dedicated channel within the profile, and a diffuser (opal cover) ensures uniform light distribution.
| Model | Lighting width | Mounting | Application |
| GAMMA 20 SLIM | 20 mm | Ceiling | Narrow light line in stretch ceiling |
| GAMMA 30 SLIM | 30 mm | Ceiling | Wider light line, more prominent effect |
| GAMMA 30 HP | 30 mm | Ceiling | High Power version for higher-wattage strips |
| GAMMA 30 VERT | 30 mm | Wall/vertical | Vertical mount — light line on wall |
All GAMMA profiles are compatible with LED strips with PCB widths of 8-12 mm. Diffuser covers are available in opal and transparent versions.
Two-level profiles enable stretch ceilings at two different heights using a single profile. They are used to visually divide zones in a room (e.g. kitchen/dining), create recesses for perimeter lighting, or build geometric ceiling features.
Aluminium curtain rail profiles are specialist profiles installed within the stretch ceiling that conceal the curtain track. Visual effect: curtains descend directly from the ceiling with no visible rail. Curtain rail profiles support single and multi-track systems.
Special profiles for plasterboard (e.g. GK LINE IN 20 and GK LINE IN 30) are designed for recessing LED light lines into plasterboard suspended ceilings. The profile is installed in the gap between two adjacent boards, and the diffuser closes the opening flush with the ceiling surface.
All 2K-Trade profiles are made from aluminium (alloy 6063 T5), ensuring lightness, corrosion resistance and ease of machining. The standard finish is raw (anodised) aluminium. Powder-coated versions in RAL 9016 (white) and RAL 9005 (black) are available to order. Curved profiles are bent to specification on request.
Complete profile installation requires additional components:
What is the standard profile length? The standard length of 2K-Trade profiles is 2.5 m. Profiles can be butt-joined with connectors or cut to size with an aluminium saw.
Can a wall profile be mounted on the ceiling? No. Wall and ceiling (SU) profiles have different mounting-hole geometry. For ceiling mounting use dedicated SU variants.
Which profile is best for a low room? Ceiling-mount SU 125 or COMFORT-SU 130 profiles take only 2-3 cm of height. Wall-mounted CLASSIC 125 requires a minimum of 3.5 cm.
Are GAMMA LED profiles compatible with all LED strips? GAMMA profiles accept LED strips with PCB width up to 12 mm. For higher-wattage strips (above 14 W/m) we recommend the GAMMA 30 HP model with improved heat dissipation.
How do I order profiles in a custom colour? Powder-coated profiles in RAL colours are available to order. Minimum order quantities and lead times are agreed individually — contact our sales team.
The 2K-Trade stretch ceiling profile range comprises over 60 items across categories: basic profiles, LED profiles, two-level profiles, curtain rail profiles, niche profiles and plasterboard profiles. Every project requires individual profile selection based on room conditions, membrane type and the desired visual effect. The full catalogue with technical data is available in the aluminium profiles section.
